Perrie Edwards recently shared the charming story of how she met footballer Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. The two first crossed paths at a mutual friend’s birthday party, where they instantly connected. Perrie described feeling an immediate spark and chemistry between them.
Their relationship blossomed from there, with the couple often supporting each other through their respective careers. Perrie has highlighted the importance of their shared experiences and the joy they find in each other’s company. Their love story has since captured the hearts of fans, showcasing a blend of romance and camaraderie. The couple welcomed their first child together, further solidifying their bond.
In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2, Perrie shared that her former Little Mix bandmate, Jesy Nelson, encouraged her to reach out to Alex after seeing him on the British TV show “Gogglebox.”
“I feel like Alex and I were meant to be together,” the singer said. “Our paths crossed so many times in random ways, it felt like we were destined to meet.”
Perrie added, “I saw him on Gogglebox and thought, ‘Oh my God, I really fancy him, he’s hilarious.’ Then Jesy told me, ‘Message him: When are you taking me for a drink?'”
Initially, Perrie felt that was too “bold,” prompting Jesy to ask, “What do you have to lose?”
“I decided to message him, thinking, ‘What the heck? Who cares? If he ignores me, he ignores me,'” Perrie explained. “I sent him a message saying, ‘We were just watching Gogglebox, and you were in a really great episode. How are you? Would you like to take me for a drink?'”
The “You Go Your Way” hitmaker described the experience as “mortifying,” but ultimately confirmed it was the “best thing she ever did.”
The remaining members of the pop group, Perrie, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock, announced a hiatus in December 2021.
