Christina Aguilera has revealed that performing in high heels over the years has resulted in damage to her knees.

In a recent interview with Raye for Rolling Stone, published on Monday, the “Beautiful” hitmaker praised the English singer-songwriter for her choice to perform barefoot whenever possible.

“I think she’s already ahead of the game, to be honest,” Christina said when asked if she had any advice for Raye. “Just the fact that she sings barefoot is impressive. I’ve already messed up my legs and feet so badly with all this high heel nonsense. I’ve damaged the cartilage in my knee. I admire that about you, though; I never had the courage to just go for it. It’s the best feeling when you can actually feel the floor beneath you.”

Aguilera praised Raye for her decision to perform barefoot, noting that it’s a choice she wishes she had the courage to make. “I’ve already messed up my legs and feet so badly with all this high heel nonsense,” she confessed, revealing that she’s damaged the cartilage in her knee over the years.
